Limescale is created by “hard” water. This water contains many minerals (calcium and magnesium) – which, by the way, are very good for your body – but less so for your home. 

There are several ways to soften water. A salt softener removes calcium and magnesium and replaces them with chemicals (salt). A magnetic softener reduces the deposition of calcium particles by giving them a negative charge. 

The Soft Shield uses a crystallization technique: the calcium and magnesium are neutralized so that they can no longer form limescale. The advantage of this is that healthy minerals are preserved and has a 99.99% efficiency.
